On this page you’ll find the answers to questions people often ask about Miil and marriage events in general. We hope you find what you’re looking for, but if you don’t please contact us directly for more information.

What are Muslim marriage events?

Marriage events give single, marriage-minded Muslims an opportunity to meet in a halal environment. There are lots of ways to meet people nowadays, including websites and apps. These are not always appropriate for Muslims looking for marriage. Coming to a marriage event shows you’re committed to finding a husband or wife.

Why should I choose Miil marriage events?

We’ve taken the marriage event concept and improved it. We want you to have a great experience and the best chance of meeting your future partner. Our marriage events are different from others in three important ways:

  1. Our events are designed around one-to-one conversations rather than group interactions, so you can talk to every potential match properly.
  2. You might not have a chance to get the details of everyone you like during the event. Our free follow-up service helps you connect with potential matches after the event.
  3. We welcome chaperones to all our events, so you needn’t let worries about coming alone hold you back.

What happens at a Miil marriage event?

Registration (30 minutes): Our friendly staff will greet you, sign you in and show you to your seat.

Presentation (10 minutes): A brief introduction to Miil and how the event will be run.

Part one (1 hour): The first set of one-to-one conversations. Speak to up to 20 different people for three minutes each.

Refreshments (30 minutes): You must be hungry after all those conversations. Help yourself to some snacks and drinks.

Part two (1 hour): The second set of one-to-one conversations.

Presentation (5 minutes): An introduction to the final part of the event and a reminder about the follow-up service.

Group mingle (45 minutes): Approach anyone you like to carry on the conversation and swap details. Don’t worry if you’re feeling a little shy – we can help with introductions. You’re free to leave whenever you want.

How many men and women will there be?

We aim to have 30 men and 30 women at each event.

Will food be provided?

Yes, snacks and drinks will be provided.

Are there prayer facilities?

Yes, there are separate prayer facilities for men and women.

What's the dress code?

There is no dress code. Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Bear in mind this is a Muslim marriage event where everyone is hoping to meet their future partner. Most guests choose to dress reasonably smart without being too formal.

How does the follow-up service work?

During the event you are given a card with all the names of the people that you’ll be speaking to. Mark the ones you like. If you don’t have a chance to swap details during the group session, please let us know (at the event or after by email) and we’ll contact them on your behalf.

What will the chaperones do during the event?

The chaperones will be seated together nearby, but far enough to give you space to talk. They will also be given snacks and drinks.

I'm not practising. Can I still come?

Yes, you’re most welcome.

What information will be shared with others?

Only your first name. This is to help everyone keep track of who they like and assist with the follow-up service.

What's your refund policy?

You can get a full refund (minus booking fee) up to 14 days before the event.
